Pingviman Hotel

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were cleaned and changed every day. The laundry service was quick, too. I had a large king-size room on the 3rd floor, with a Jacuzzi bath, balcony, and pool view. I didn't use the pool because the weather was cool, though it looked good. I also didn't use the dining facilities or get up in time for breakfast, but there are plenty of cheap, easy places just outside. It's just inside the south city walls, fairly quiet at night and only a short walk to bars and restaurants. The place was spotlessly clean and well maintained. I'd choose this kind of stay over one of the big chains and would come back.

The rooms are lovely and the staff are kind, but the air-conditioning kept switching off and needed resetting. I was writing this at 3am on my third night, having not slept well any of the nights so far. After the third night we changed rooms, and the aircon worked and we had warm water. That made a world of difference. If the whole stay had been like that, it would have been five stars. I've amended my review to reflect the overall visit.

Breakfast was a trip highlight: fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, Asian choices like noodles, and especially the fried rice, which I wanted more of. The pool stays shaded by the west building and trees throughout the day, a relief after other Thai pools that were in full sun. Our huge, bright, clean room had lovely wood and architecture, almost condo-sized. The hotel is newly built in an old style. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the old temple and night market, with coffee and tea shops, massage, 7-11, cocktails, restaurants, and street vendors within five minutes.

Pingviman Hotel made exploring Chiang Mai easy, with temples, cafés, shops, and markets all an easy walk away in the Old Town square. Our pool-facing room was spacious and comfortable, and felt peaceful. The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast had plenty of tasty choices. We had a great stay and would recommend it to visitors.
