Big is such an open-hearted, awesome host. We stayed for over a week in an upstairs room at Plumeria Home in Chiang Mai. It was quiet and lovely, with a romantic feel that would suit couples. The place looks even better in person than in the photos, which was a great surprise. You can rent a good-quality scooter on site for a decent price. The lady next door does laundry cheaply, and there’s local food around, plus coconut coffee yam! Frida

What helped us most on our last day was the reception team. The Ping River overflowed and flooded areas east of the Old City, including the train station, leaving many locals and tourists affected. Poodson was far enough from the river that we were spared, though our train plans weren’t so lucky. Staff made several calls to the railway operator for us and offered a later checkout so we had time to arrange other travel. We were very grateful for their help. Tok and Big were wonderful hosts from arrival through departure. They greeted us, helped with whatever we needed, and made us feel at home. They even arranged an unforgettable elephant excursion and warmed up food we’d bought at the local market so we could eat in the cozy outdoor dining area. It felt more like staying with friends than at a hotel. The small boutique hotel is well placed for exploring. It’s less than 2 km from Chiang Mai airport, I believe, and a short walk from the Old Town, canal, and morning market. Walk the other way for local night markets and even Pickleball courts. I enjoyed walking there and taking a tuk tuk back. The place feels calm and thoughtfully run. There are only eight rooms, and we got ours in high season because of a cancellation. I almost kept this place to myself, but it deserves recognition. For the price, it’s a peaceful, well-located boutique stay with hosts who truly care. I’ll definitely return.

The room was comfortable and lovely, and I felt well looked after throughout my stay. Plumeria felt like home. The hosts, Bik and Tok, are kind-hearted, helpful, and adorable, and they bring a special spark to the place. I was lucky to find this calm spot away from the busy tourist areas, while still being very close to the Old City, the Saturday Market, and everything I needed. I loved my time in Chiang Mai and am grateful to the hosts!

I stayed for a month while getting settled into a long-term rental, and Big and Tok have become friends. The English-speaking Thai owners are welcoming, friendly, helpful, and fun to interact with, which made the stay much more enjoyable. There’s a covered shared kitchen and common area outside, with a burner, sink, dishes, cookware, filtered water, kettle, and more. The big wooden table usually has fresh local fruit each morning. Next door there’s laundry, and good local food is all around. Scooters are easy and affordable to rent on site, and Chiang Mai gate, Airport mall, and CNX airport are about five minutes away by scooter. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, cold AC, and consistently hot shower water. It also had a fridge, TV, plenty of closet space, and drawers. They can provide a desk if you need one for work. The place is an affordable gem. I chose it partly because it’s close to the local pickleball court, where there’s daily play from 730am to Noon for 20 baht. I highly recommend staying here for a memorable, friendly, authentic Thai experience.

We rented motorcycles right at the accommodation, which made getting around Chiang Mai much easier. The hosts were very attentive and ready to help or guide us with anything we needed. It’s a welcoming place, close to several tourist spots and restaurants.
