The look of Shamrock Chiang Mai was gorgeous, with lovely décor and thoughtful details. I’d followed it on Instagram for months, and it was just as beautiful in person. The onsite bistro had amazing coffee, and the golf buggy was a nice extra. Beam and the friendly receptionist whose name starts with “P” were especially warm and helpful. I had a hard time with the location as a solo woman who likes busy, walkable areas. The streets nearby were quiet and dim, especially in November when it’s dark by 6pm, and I felt a bit isolated and less free to go exploring in the evening. I took the buggy a couple of times, but was told it only did pickup and drop-off from the same location, so it didn't always work out. Room 23 was noisy. The AC was loud, and sounds came through from outside and nearby rooms. I could hear neighbours talking, laughing, and even sneezing. I’m a light sleeper and slept badly, so I left a night early. The hotel wouldn’t refund the unused night because of its 5-day notice policy, though there was no way to know about these problems that far ahead. A few room details: the light switches were on only one side of the bed, and the sideways sockets made my mosquito plug awkward to use. Since the doors opened straight outside, I noticed more insects than I’m used to in Bangkok, so repellent is essential. There was a kettle and mugs but no tea, coffee, or sugar, which made me laugh. Thank goodness the bistro coffees were complimentary! Shamrock Chiang Mai is beautiful and has fantastic staff. I’d suggest it to people who aren’t travelling alone, are fine with quieter streets at night, and aren’t light sleepers.

The buggy service was a special touch: a quick word at reception got us rides to nearby attractions, restaurants, and night markets within the old city. The hotel also felt like a peaceful little hideaway amid the busy city, a nice place to unwind after exploring. Shamrock Chiangmai Hotel is great value, and I’d happily recommend it to solo travellers, couples, or families. The location was really convenient, close to Nimman Road and the Old City, so shopping, food, and Chiang Mai culture were all nearby. My room was simple, cozy, and spotless. The bed was especially comfortable, and the bathroom had good water pressure and reliably hot showers. The staff were consistently welcoming and polite, greeted me with smiles, and helped with recommendations and bookings. I had a delightful stay.

I stayed two nights and was really happy with it. The restaurant was great, especially the Christmas menu. The Snowman Pizza looked cute and tasted delicious! The hotel was spotless, and the staff were so friendly and spoke English well, which made things easy for visitors from abroad. They even run a golf cart around Old Town, a lovely touch. It felt welcoming, like home away from home. I’d choose this place for friends visiting from overseas. Thanks for a great stay!

We were here for one night during a stopover. It was easy to walk into old town, and the hotel also had a free golf buggy shuttle, which was a nice extra. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the lovely staff gave us some good tips, including Dash Teak House for dinner. That was an amazing spot for local Thai food. We also had delicious coffee in the morning, thank you!

The rooms are gorgeous, and my partner and I absolutely loved our three nights at the Shamrock hotel during our first visit to Chiang Mai. The bistro food was really good and conveniently beside the pool. There aren’t sunbeds by the pool, if that matters to you. The hotel is smaller than other five-star places we’ve stayed in. It’s just reception, bistro, pool, and rooms. That said, we couldn’t fault our experience. The staff were amazing, always around and ready to help. They guided us on things to do in town and even ordered taxis through their personal phone apps. They were so pleasant and kind.
