The staff were friendly and the price was fair, and the location is great, but we didn’t have a pleasant stay. We arrived in the evening without any explanation of how things worked, including that we had to ask for housekeeping and cleaning. The room smelled of weed and had no soap. Water from the AC drips onto the bathroom floor, with no way for it to reach the drain, leaving the area around the toilet constantly wet. Housekeeping didn’t mop it, which was disgusting. The shower drips too. There was only one usable outlet if we wanted the fridge on, and we had just one nightstand. The mattress was very hard, though we’ve found that’s generally the case in Thailand. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We weren’t even able to check in, which left us extremely dissatisfied. We had booked two rooms on Booking.com the day before arriving, but the receptionist said they couldn’t find our reservation and were fully booked, even after we showed the confirmation emails. She rudely said it didn’t matter because we hadn’t paid yet, and showed no professionalism or care even while speaking with her boss on the phone. Their only offer was one night at another hotel they owned, a 30-minute walk away, then a return here the next day. That didn’t work for us: we chose this hotel for its location and had tours arranged to pick us up there. They said our room had flooded and another guest had been moved into it. They blamed Booking.com and offered no real help, although a flooded room should have been communicated properly. We even offered to wait while it was cleaned, but were told the bed was wet. The only compensation was 150 baht for a taxi to the other hotel. We had to find a new hotel, rebook taxis, and rearrange tours, losing over an hour. The whole thing was disorganized and unprofessional, and we felt completely uncared for. We expected much better service and a more competent response. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

I booked a room a week ahead for New Year’s Eve, but they gave away both my reservation and room. At the last minute, there were no other rooms available in the city.

I stayed here five years ago and remember a lovely, quaint hotel. Since then, it seems very little has been done to improve it. Our Deluxe room was tiny, apparently called deluxe because it had an extra window. There was no TV or drinking water, although other places at similar prices provide those basics. We paid 4,000 baht to upgrade to a room with a TV, but its spa bath was just a regular bath. The gardens were partly dug up and looked pretty sad. I would have recommended the hotel years ago, but now I’d look elsewhere for somewhere less drab with the missing basics. It needs a big cash injection.
