The Moment Chiangmai

We had a great stay and found the staff very helpful with our luggage. Our room was in the wine bar building, which you reach by stairs since there’s no elevator, but we didn’t mind the climb. The room was cute, with a simple but cute record. The location is great for walking to several bazaars and restaurants.

I only stayed one night and didn’t want to drag down the rating, so I gave it 4 stars, but I really didn’t like the hotel. I booked at the last minute and the room itself was fine, though it was more like a suite with a very ugly living room and two rooms with a bathroom up the stairs. Carrying luggage up there was a pain. It also wasn’t cheap, at $134. The building was attached to the main hotel but was a wine bar with rooms upstairs. I found the interior really ugly, and I’m sensitive to that kind of thing 😂 At least there was no noise from the bar. My door didn’t lock properly either, and I had to ask for help with it, so I didn’t feel completely safe going to sleep.

The owner and staff were exceptionally friendly, and they kept our room clean. Every day they restocked the coffee corner with crisps, cookies, coffee and drinks, all included. We stayed in a pretty room above the fabulous wine bar, one of the two parts of the hotel, with the other being the main hotel. Getting around was easy: left from the building takes you towards the old town centre, and right towards the night bazaar. When we arrived very early, both the hotel and wine bar shutters were still closed, which confused us. They opened soon after, and the owner greeted us and offered to hold our luggage until the room was ready. We went for breakfast in the old town while we waited. Once we had our keys, we understood the setup: there’s also a key fob to operate the shutters when coming and going outside opening hours. The owner even puts a quirky car out in front of the building each day. He’s got the hotel and wine bar concept worked out well. The one downside is that there’s no elevator in that part, so it wouldn’t suit people with limited mobility. I think the main hotel does have one, though. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

My room was clean and cozy, and the location made it easy to reach the night bazaar, markets and old town. There were lots of places to eat and drink nearby. Grab, Bolt and the red taxis were easy to find, with red taxi rides costing 30 baht to the other end of the old town, Nimman or outside CM city. It rained heavily on my checkout day and the street flooded. The owner kindly arranged for her brother to take me to the airport.
