Baan Pordeedin

I had a peaceful, comfortable night at Baan Pordeelin Hotel in Chiang Rai. The room was clean, the hotel seemed well maintained, and breakfast was included in the 800 baht I paid. Breakfast was satisfactory. It seems like a good choice for a short stay. There are a few similar hotels nearby with comparable services and facilities at slightly lower prices. Even so, Baan Pordeelin is a reliable option if you want somewhere comfortable in Chiang Rai.

We were looking forward to our stay because of the good reviews, but our first-floor room smelled strongly of mold and mildew. The bathroom also had a lot of black mold and water damage. Staff told us all the first-floor rooms were the same, and there were no rooms on the upper floors available, so we had to move to another hotel. I can't say whether the other rooms are better, but I wouldn't recommend staying in a first-floor room. They handled things well and refunded most of our money. They didn't seem surprised that we wanted to leave, though, so I got the impression they may have had similar issues lately.

The staff were lovely and friendly, and the room was nice and clean. Breakfast was a great buffet, with different stir-fried dishes every morning. Highly recommend!

The staff were pleasant and made me feel welcome, and there was plenty of parking outside. A convenience store is just a minute away. For the price, I’d stay here again. I was pleasantly surprised to find it for a night: a big bed, TV, kettle, fridge, good air conditioning and a good breakfast. One thing that may matter to some people is that there’s no lift, just stairs. The hotel is only two storeys high. It reminded me a bit of Thailand 20 years ago, when it was the land of smiles.
