Chiang Rai Greenpark Resort

Nu and Eve at reception were really nice and helpful with all my questions about the area. They even helped me communicate with the Grab person. The rooms were clean, and I had a great experience with the hotel and staff.

We missed this place on Agoda and stayed somewhere else first, then found it by accident. Glad we did. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, soft in a way that suited westerners, unlike the hard beds in many Thai hotels. We had a porch, and mosquito guards on the windows and door meant we could leave the windows open at night without using AC. There was a little grassy area with trees in the middle of the complex, which made it feel more like nature than a city. The interior showed some wear, but it was very clean and quiet at night. We were totally happy and would stay again.

For two days we paid about 3800 INR, which felt like a good rate for the stay. The room and washroom were clean, and the friendly, cooperative staff made it a nice place to stay. There was AC, TV, a geyser, hair dryer and even an umbrella in the room. Breakfast was included: toast with jam or butter, tea and coffee, watermelon slices, and chicken porridge. I’d recommend it.

The location is terrible if you don’t have a car, with nothing around, and the owners and managers were horrible. I felt sorry for the staff. The service was awful, the rooms weren’t as described, and the owner was nasty. We booked a deluxe room with a garden view, but to see the garden you have to stand outside in the car park and look. The back window faces a brick wall covered in fake grass and barely lets in any light, so the room feels like a box. It was noisy too. The people next door smoked on the balcony, which they weren’t supposed to do, and our room stank of smoke when we woke up. I woke at 6:30 to noise, smoke and no natural light. Maybe it would be okay if you have a car and don’t mind the lack of daylight and smoke coming through the doors. Don’t sell me a deluxe room with garden views if that’s not what I’m getting. I’d give zero stars if I could.
