Sooknirund Hotel

The free breakfast buffet wasn’t as varied as at a big resort, but everything was fresh, tasty, and excellent quality. The free loan bikes could use some attention: ours had flat tyres, rust, and loose seats. Staff tried to repair them, though they still weren’t usable. We stayed in a King Suite, which was huge, beautifully designed, and peaceful. The bed was especially comfortable, and the whole room felt private and calm. The staff were attentive and friendly from check-in through departure, making everything easy. Sooknirund Hotel feels like a quiet sanctuary in central Chiang Rai, close to temples, markets, and plenty of food options. I’d absolutely stay again and happily recommend it.

There are lots of food choices nearby and a 7eleven close by, and the room was nicely designed. But we had a hard time sleeping in room 202 because noise from the main street came straight through the poor soundproofing. Then birds started chirping at 4 AM, which was just horrible. Please do something about it, maybe use white noise to shoo them away or improve the rooms’ soundproofing. There were stains on the wall by the TV, and the toilet had to be separated from the shower. The installation stains around the bottom of the toilet weren’t appealing either. Service was so-so. We also had to empty the dirty laundry bag at checkout, even though laundry bags are normally free at every hotel. We wouldn’t want to come back.

The service was very good, and the staff arranged a private car for me to my hotel in Chiang Mai for 3500 thb. Our deluxe room was spacious and clean, with a very large bathroom. The lobby was beautifully decorated, and the location was great, with lots of local restaurants and cafes nearby.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, though not many stay open late at night. The hotel is in a good spot next to downtown Chiang Rai, and parking is available even late. The rooms are cozy, and the open ceilings in the hallways keep them from feeling stuffy.
