J Park Hotel

Great value, and the friendly staff upgraded my room when I arrived. Wish I’d come sooner. I’ll be back.

The hotel was dirty, smelly, and full of mosquitoes, and there was no sign of care with cleanliness or maintenance. Right from arrival, the staff were rude and unhelpful, and wouldn’t let me see the room I’d booked. When I tried to reach the manager, nobody spoke English, and they hung up on me instead of dealing with the problem. I had to leave immediately and go back to Bangkok at my own expense, losing nearly 2,000 baht in taxi costs. This stay was awful, far below acceptable accommodation standards. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Save your money and sanity and stay somewhere else.

The staff were great and did everything they could to help. It’s good value for a budget focused hotel, as long as you’re not expecting 4 star luxury. I suspect the floors in our room and the elevator were unclean because they were busy with the U19 Asia Cup. At breakfast, the tables also hadn’t been wiped after the previous dinners had eaten.

The pool seemed to be the only thing in working order. The gym next to the hotel looked closed, and the dusty lobby furniture and falling Christmas decorations made the place feel neglected. Mosquitoes swarmed just outside the lobby, with no apparent repellents or anti-mosquito breeding practices. They also don’t accept Amex. The hotel is in the middle of an industrial zone, with nothing interesting nearby, so it’s a poor fit for foreign tourists looking for activities or entertainment. Service was shockingly bad: there’s no concierge, so you have to haul luggage up stairs or along a long 3 level zig-zag pathway. Front desk staff showed little interest in helping, and the manager wouldn’t leave his office to answer questions. When we asked to see the room first because we were worried, they asked for our passports, which made us even less confident. I wonder if the place mainly caters to local tourists on staycation. If you expect 4-star service, decent cleanliness, or a convenient location, avoid it.
