Belle Villa Resort Chiangmai

We had a comfortable bed, a nice balcony looking over farmland and hills, and friendly staff. The area is quiet, with a few restaurants nearby. But we were put in Hotel 2, which is more run down, even though Hotel 1 next door was nearly empty. The pool needed cleaning, the shower barely worked, and there was no buffet breakfast because there weren’t enough guests.

After a terrible start to our trip, with lost luggage and a last-minute hotel cancellation in the busiest season, the staff here went out of their way to fit us in. It’s a remote spot, and getting into Chiang Mai costs THB800, but it’s wonderfully calm and peaceful. The service was so friendly, and the rooms, pool, and amenities were beautiful. I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

The room was clean and spacious, and the hotel has a relaxing atmosphere, with a nice view and pool. The price was very affordable. Our only bad impression was that we arrived at 14.30, half an hour after the 14.00 check-in time, and the room still wasn’t ready. Staff cleaned it right away, though, and we waited about 15 minutes before it was prepared.

The front desk gave us helpful directions to nearby sights, and the hotel is well placed for the elephant park and Royal Rose Garden. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and service was friendly. It’s a little hard to find after dark, so better evening lighting would help. The shower takes a while to heat up, though there’s a sign warning you. We also had a power outage, but the backup generator worked great.
