Monkham Village Hatyai

There’s a 7-Eleven within walking distance, and the hotel is in a peaceful spot away from the busy streets. Staff were polite and friendly, and they helped carry our luggage to the room at check-in. The room and bathroom were clean and smelled great. We had no itchiness from the very comfortable mattress and pillows. A fridge and microwave were provided too.

This is a quiet residential area, away from the main shopping district, and the city centre is about a 10-minute ride away. The facilities work, though some are a little dated, and breakfast is very basic. It suits people who prefer a calmer location.

The room felt homely, with a cozy bed, and the hotel was comfortable with good service. We asked to have only our room’s towels changed, and the staff kindly did that. I also requested a toothbrush, which was delivered very quickly. The place is somewhat remote, but there’s a dessert shop right outside and an open area that’s nice for cute pictures. The pool bar staff seemed unprofessional when I saw them Google something, but they did their best for us. I’d recommend coming with family and booking about two months ahead.

I spent last weekend at this resort for my birthday, and the stay was deeply disappointing. I booked a pool access room directly and asked for a simple birthday decoration, like towel swans. The hotel confirmed, but there was nothing when we arrived. Our room faced the restaurant, and noise carried on throughout the day, making it hard to rest. For the relatively high rate compared with other hotels in Hatyai, the welcome was far below what I expected: nobody offered to help with our luggage, even though I was ready to tip the bellboy. Receptionists talked and laughed loudly, and the restaurant staff were unfriendly. Breakfast was poor too. Both the eggs labeled soft-boiled and hard-boiled were overcooked. When I asked the waitress for two freshly made soft-boiled eggs, she responded sourly. All the breakfast food, porridge included, was cold. In the middle of the night, the power went out and we were left hot and sweating. Staff gave no explanation or apology, and didn’t communicate about it at all. I found that unacceptable. The location is quite remote, so without your own car you have to call a cab every time you go out. The public pool is very small, with no room to swim when it’s crowded with kids. It was also dirty, and I could clearly see black stains on the tiles even during breakfast. After I dropped an earring under the bed, I found that area covered in dust and apparently not cleaned by housekeeping. This was meant to be a special birthday trip, but the experience missed my expectations in many ways. I WILL NOT return, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this property to others.
