The Signature Hotel Airport (SHA Extra Plus)

The hallway floors badly need a clean, and the room was smaller than I expected. The shower and bathroom were behind a glass wall. The worst issue was that there was no hot water, so we had cold showers. That's totally unacceptable for a place claiming to be 4 star.

I couldn't understand why there was no soap by the bathroom sink. When I called the front desk, they said that was normal, they had no extra soap, and I should use the shower gel. I thought they'd misunderstood me at first, but they were serious. They had toothbrushes and shower caps, even though those aren't as basic as soap. I travel a lot and have stayed at hotels across Asia, Europe, and the USA, and I've never been anywhere without some kind of soap by the sink. The hotel's operator should know that most international travelers would find this highly unusual. In most places I've stayed, sink-side soap is one of the most basic amenities.

We left without ordering. There were six of us at dinner, but we were given only two menus, and after 33 minutes nobody had come to take our order. We couldn't get the wait staff's attention however hard we tried. The prices were the highest we'd seen in Thailand, even after visiting Koh Lipe.

The hotel is modern and comfortable, but the unexplained charges left me with a bad impression. At check-out, I was billed 450 baht for minibar items we hadn't used and 3,000 baht for alleged smoking, though my family are non-smokers. The evidence they showed was shoe stains, not ashes. At check-in, they had asked for a 1,000 baht deposit plus 900 baht for my child and compulsory breakfast.
