Madame Green Forever

It’s close to Chopsticks Hill and the beach, just across from the ruen kanok Thai house. We paid 1,200 baht for a weekend night, compared with 800 on a weekday. For a similar price, I’d seriously suggest staying at the Thai house instead. It’s much better.

Good value when it’s low season.

It’s a quiet, tucked-away place, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and quick to help. The hotel has a lovely Asian-style interior, though it’s a little worn and vintage, which makes it feel cozy. My window faced north over an empty lot and a residential area; in the evenings I could hear the sea and cicadas. The beach is a two-minute walk, and a café is about four or five minutes away. There’s also a 7-Eleven nearby and a street with green minibuses. In the mornings, a coffee van comes to the lane next door, and people gather there to chat over good coffee.

There’s no breakfast, though coffee and water are provided in the room. You can park under the building, and the sea is about a 200-metre walk away. The room is fair for the price.
