Sabaikan Resort

The bathroom was the one real drawback. It has just one low sink, so anyone tall has to bend over, and it isn't easy for a couple to share either. There's very little space or drawer storage for toiletries, so keeping things put away all the time is difficult. I wish there had been more room to store them. Otherwise, Sabaikan Resort was a good place to stay in Kanchanaburi, within walking distance of the famous River Kwai bridge. Our room and everything else were clean, the AC worked, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They were also happy to organize a day trip for the four of us, something not every place does.

Breakfast was served buffet style, with salad vegetables, omelette, sunny-side-up eggs, ham, chicken soup, croissants and waffles with maple syrup. There was coffee in a jar too, and enough to keep you going until lunch or even dinner. The place is centrally located in Kanchanaburi and has a cute garden. The staff are really nice and accommodating, always around at reception. The pool is small, but enough to dip into on a hot day and feel better.

We booked a garden room, and the garden and pool area were immaculate. The room and bathroom were more basic, but spacious and comfortable. The mini-bar prices were reasonable, and it doubled as a fridge. We got two bottles of water free each day. The staff were lovely, and the laundry I used was ready in under 24 hours. Breakfast was a fairly simple buffet, but there was plenty to choose from. It's about a 15-minute walk to the River Kwai bridge, and historic Kachanaburi is also walkable, though a bit farther.

After a day out, it was lovely to come back to this relaxing place. The tropical garden has a pool, birds and frogs. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the air-conditioning nice and cool. Breakfast had a wide range of food, and they also serve lunch. Laundry service is available.
