Koh Mook Sivalai Beach Resort

The northern beach was one of the best parts of our stay: quiet, with almost no people or boats, and the staff cleared washed-up rubbish twice a day. The beach looked picture-perfect, especially compared with the waste elsewhere on Koh Mook near the harbour. Our Premier Beachfront Villa was in the front row, and the view from bed was unforgettable. We’d happily pay extra for that location and recommend it over the southern beach. We travelled with our six-month-old son, and the villa’s layout worked very well for us. The resort felt peaceful even with plenty of guests and children, thanks to how the villas are arranged. We usually prefer small boutique hotels, but this place never felt crowded. The staff, especially in the restaurant, were lovely with our son and took turns carrying and entertaining him while we ate. That warmth made the trip feel extra special. The room was well designed, though some indoor materials felt a little dated. The bathroom water pressure was low, but these were minor drawbacks. Breakfast had a good range, especially tasty fruit and local dishes, and the machine coffee was good. You can also order espresso. We enjoyed the flavourful Thai dishes at dinner. The resort is close to the simple, authentic town, which we appreciated. It still has a relaxed Thai atmosphere and an uncomplicated way of life. With beautiful views and facilities that suited travel with an infant, we had a fantastic week and would consider returning.

A great hideaway even in low season, with a top location and friendly staff. Breakfast was a fantastic buffet, and the restaurant was affordable. It closes at 9 pm in the off-season. Fisherman's Village is within walking distance, and on May 8 some restaurants were open. I’m sure there are many more during high season.

The staff were kind and helpful, and I liked the spa, breakfast, and other food. The room itself was okay, but the bathroom was in terrible shape, with worn-down surfaces and walls that weren’t properly sealed. Lizards or bugs could get inside, and I had to tape up the windows to keep lizards out. The rooms have a natural, wooden style rather than a modern look, which was fine with me apart from that issue. The beach setup was also disappointing. There were only a few loungers on one side, not enough across the hotel beach, and they were just small pieces of cloth rather than proper loungers. It wasn’t possible to lie down comfortably, and in the heat there was nowhere to avoid the sun. At around £200 per night, I don’t think it was worth the price.

The restaurant was a real surprise on such a small island. The Thai food and grilled dishes were excellent. I’ve lived in Thailand for 15 years, worked in travel, and seen hundreds of hotels, so I know what I’m talking about. We booked an easy day tour through the hotel, which has plenty of its own boats. I got only a few bites from plankton in the water, and there were no mosquitoes. We stayed in March 2026 and were very happy with the resort. The grounds were clean, the beach was super white on both sides, and there were very few people. Our seafront villa was clean, the air conditioning worked properly, and the terrace had a great beach view. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There are two pools, but we didn’t use them because the beach was enough. This is now one of my favourite hotels and locations in Thailand.
