KK Karon Kata Boutique hotel

We're in two rooms right now, and it feels like staying on a construction site. They told us work would begin at 10, but welding was already going on at 8:30. Getting inside means climbing over every door, workers are using the pool, and our room has ants. Maybe they should have closed the place until the work was done, then reopened with more dignity. The rooftop bar and pool were lovely, with sea views and sunsets to enjoy over a cocktail. They also provide separate towels for the beach, which came in handy. Breakfast had a great mix of continental and local food, and the coffee was awesome. Most days we didn’t need lunch. The hotel is centrally placed but away from the busiest area. You can walk to both Karon and Kata Beach, and Kata Walking Street is five minutes away. Buses and taxis stop right outside, and the Airport Bus Stop is within 100 meters, so you can take that bus here.

The staff were genuinely welcoming, and the spot between Karon and Kata beach was exactly why I booked. Those were the only positives for me. The room had mosquitoes and looked like housekeeping had barely been by. The toilet clogged twice, and the door locked itself for no reason. In the middle of the night I had to jiggle it open with a flat spoon. I gave two stars for the location and the staff, who were great. There are much better options out there.

The buffet breakfast was laid out with plenty of options, and we thought it was excellent value. We stayed at KK Boutique during Songkran, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and guests seemed well looked after. Its position is great, just above the Kata junction and below the Dino Golf park. Both Karon and Kata beaches are about a five-minute walk away, so there’s a choice. The rooftop pool was an extra treat, with a view over Karon and Kata while water from Songkran was flying around, as my wife put it… lol
