Mellow Space Mini-hotel

Breakfast downstairs was a highlight for me. There was plenty to choose from, and the local Thai option I tried was delicious and felt like good quality for the price. Mellow space boutique rooms is also really well placed, about a five-minute walk (250m) from Karon beach, with a 7/11 across the road, plus laundry and scooter hire just a few doors away. Mr Dave Rogers gave us such a warm welcome, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Our room was spotless and spacious, with quiet AC, a ceiling fan, a comfortable bed, and a balcony for watching the village bustle. The mountain-view rooms are there if you want a quieter outlook.

The beach is very close, and the location was good. The Thai staff were friendly, especially one very helpful woman who spoke a little English. We checked out of the room a bit late and it hadn't been cleaned, but when we asked to exchange our towels she handled it quickly. There were lots of tiny ants in our room. Ants themselves weren't the main issue, but the response was really rude and unhelpful. On the first night we told staff and asked if we could move rooms. They said no and told us to contact the owner or hotel manager on WhatsApp. The manager replied that we shouldn't eat in the room or leave crumbs, even though it was our first night and we hadn't eaten anything there. He then told us to use ant spray ourselves to clear them out, and later warned us the spray was dangerous and again said not to leave crumbs. Nobody apologized. We had to clean and spray the room ourselves that day, and he was rude throughout.

I felt so at home here that I'm already planning to return this year. The rooms were clean and welcoming, and the hospitality exceeded what I expected. It was about a seven-minute walk to Karon beach, and I loved starting the day with coffee on the private balcony, looking out at the mountains and listening to nature. That became part of my daily routine. The walk-in shower could use a better floor seal, since water spread across the floor. Even so, this was a dream stay for me. We stayed for two weeks, and the staff impressed us every day with how thoughtful and helpful they were. The restaurant food was delicious, too. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach and everything else we needed, which made the stay easy.
