Slumber Party Surf Kata Phuket

The Kata walking market street is right there, so it’s easy to find great food, and the hostel serves good food too. I stayed four nights at the end of my Vietnam and Thailand trip, and this was my favorite social hostel of the whole trip. The staff are great at making guests feel included and have a good time. They run different activities every night, which made meeting people easy and fun. Showers had great pressure and hot water, a big bonus after other hostels where that wasn’t a given. Big thanks to Delaney, Casey and and Cass for going out of their way to make our stay great. I’d come back next trip.

Roberto, Jan, and Dan made this stay feel like home. Their kindness, great energy, and knack for making everyone feel included turned a good hostel into a memorable one. The place was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with a convenient location and a friendly, social feel from the moment I arrived. One of the best hostel stays I’ve had. I’ll definitely be back!

The staff were super friendly and always happy to help with anything. The hostel has two buildings, one quieter and one more of a party scene, so you can pick the atmosphere you want. I stayed a few days and found the rooms spacious, the beds comfortable, and the price fair. I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

We booked a private room for four nights after seeing the Hostelworld reviews and hoping for a social atmosphere. We’ve spent months traveling around Southeast Asia, in hostels and hotels, and this was our worst stay by far. At around $40 USD a night, it was also extremely expensive for a hostel in this region. We were moved between rooms several times. Every room had a serious problem, like air conditioning stuck on freezing, no working hot water, or other maintenance failures. The beds felt like bare box springs, the worst we’ve slept on in months of travel, and the thin little blankets seemed more like budget dorm bedding than something for a paid private room. There was no WiFi signal anywhere in the private-room wing, so we had to use the common areas for internet. We asked for a refund because of the repeated facility problems, but management refused. The manager said previous staff had been fired for refunding unhappy guests. They offered free drinks instead, which didn’t address the problem and left a poor impression of the company’s priorities and customer service. We’d also chosen the place for its advertised social party-hostel scene, but there was no atmosphere, no activities happening, and we didn’t meet anyone. The age range was well outside the advertised 18-35 demographic, and events were not meaningfully attended or organized. The stay was uncomfortable, overpriced, and poorly managed, nothing like what was advertised. For a social hostel or even a working private room, I’d look elsewhere. Phuket has much better options at the same or lower price.
