South Siam Guesthouse Kata

A disgusting hotel, I wouldn’t advise anyone to stay here. There were bedbugs crawling around in the bed, the staff were very rude, the hotel was dirty, and it smelled unpleasant. They also told us everything was occupied, but we walked by and saw empty rooms. They just kept saying occupied and blatantly lied to our faces. I don’t recommend it, despite it being described as the most modern hotel in Phuket.

I first stopped in for coffee twice and loved the café latte, then found out it was a hotel and asked about a room. I spent three nights in the dormitory and somehow had it to myself. It was 500 baht, while regular rooms were 1800 baht, I think. The women working there were kind, even though they seemed busy juggling the restaurant, hotel, and tour company. They really worked hard to make my stay great, and I appreciated how they looked after me. The beach takes about ten minutes to walk to, so I gave the location four stars. Seven eleven is down the street, and it's an easy place to stay.

The staff were so friendly, helpful, and service minded, probably the nicest I've come across. It's in a pleasant, quiet part of Kata, away from the worst traffic. The hotel has been renovated and feels fresh, with nice rooms, air conditioning, a fridge, and lovely balconies. I'd recommend it if you'd rather have a good place to stay and money left for other things than pay for a fancy hotel.

The location was great, but I won't return. The bathroom shower smelled like rotten eggs, and ants mean I'm having to spend close to 2000 baht getting all my clothes cleaned. The manager first denied there was anything wrong with the water and said the shower water was drinking quality. When I asked the boss, who I believe is the owner, to drink it, she got angry and yelled at me to drink it instead. Later she grabbed a piece of paper from my hand that had nothing to do with her and tried to photograph it without asking. Incredibly unprofessional. They advertise a 24/7 reception, but late at night it's a sleeping lady who has to be woken up to let you in or out. Guests could be stuck inside if there's a fire, which is a major fire hazard.
