Getting here means a long stretch of mountain driving if you’re not local. When I wrote this, Petchabun Airport was no longer operating, leaving Pitsanuluk, over a hundred kilometers away, as the nearest airport. Still, the area is beautiful, and the trip wasn’t wasted. Service at the resort was extremely efficient, and the place was clean and well managed. There wasn’t a breakfast buffet during our stay, so we picked set breakfasts ahead of time. The portions were huge and the meals were fine. The omelettes were very nice, though the bacon was odd and not especially tasty. Each set also came with a big plate of fruit and a large salad. The coffee was really bad, but that’s a small complaint. Our two-bedroom, two-bathroom house worked for our group of four and was clean, but a larger fridge would have helped. The rooms felt cramped, and the furniture wasn’t comfortable. The built-in “sofas” had cheap cushions, and the only other seats were four straight-backed chairs from an old dining set. The upstairs bedroom had no chairs or other furniture, just a bed on the floor. I like having somewhere decent to sit when I’m in my room. The grounds were immaculate, and the cleaning ladies did a very good job. The free ride to the top of Phukaew Peak is well worth taking.
Our room was spacious, with comfortable beds. The place looks out over a lake and an adventure park.
On my first visit, I was impressed by this pleasant place to stay in the Khao Kor area. It’s somewhere between small and large, with plenty of flowers to enjoy while walking around. There’s a high point for looking out over the surroundings, and although the resort offers a shuttle car, I enjoyed walking. The room was clean and tidy, though the internet connection wasn’t good in some rooms.
The landscaping and tall leafy trees were what impressed us most. The winding roads between the lobby, the Adventure Park, and the rooms made the truck rides a fun way to see the sunrise, sunset, and scenery. We were in hillside rooms with decent views, spacious rooms, and good-sized bathrooms. Everything worked well, including the wifi, hot shower, and TV, though there was a small stain inside the kettle, so we didn’t boil water in it. Our rooms were near Phukeaw Peak hill and the Lookout Cafe, so rides up and down were quick. They were farther from the Lobby, so we booked the on-call trucks, which was pleasant enough. Staff didn’t understand English, so Google Translate came in handy. It’s a safe, comfortable place for both young and old, with cute, quirky dairy animal sculptures in the field alongside a miniature Windmill and cabin. There’s also a nice-sized adventure park next to the forest.
We stayed in cabin 1, and my wife and kids enjoyed the trip, so I’m glad we chose this place. The phu kaew cafe is a great spot for photos, especially around sunset, and resort guests get 50% off at the adventure park. I recommend the flying fox. Check the windows after cleaning, though, because mine hadn’t been locked properly, and the tap leaked a little. I also didn’t expect the aircon to be off, but early mornings and nights were very cold, around 12 to 16 degrees.
