The sunrise from the bungalow rooftop, with the surrounding mountains, was wonderful. The forest setting is absolutely quiet except for birds, and the scenery is amazing. We visited at Christmas and there were no other guests when we arrived. It was 14 degrees Celsius, cold compared with Bangkok. There’s free parking. We chose a bungalow, though there are two room types. The space was small, and the washroom sink leaked. Breakfast was just bread and coffee, and there’s no reception, only Uncle Rak, who was friendly and nice. Getting in can be rough and tricky: you have to turn off into the street while going uphill.

A simple, good budget stay in Khao Kho. We had a room, not a bungalow, and it was fine for two nights at this price while we spent the days sightseeing. A car is best for reaching the hotel, and the access road isn’t in great shape.

We came during the cool season and were lucky enough to see fog. The place was quiet, private, and clean, with comfortable beds and a great atmosphere. There’s a barbecue area that’s ideal for a party or BBQ. We were very impressed.
