The Glory Gold Hotel

Getting around the main road is convenient, and there’s parking and a small pool at the back. The bed was okay, but there was only one pillow each. The shower and toilet flush were broken, and there’s no elevator, so a woman on her own with big luggage would have a hard time. Noise carries loudly from footsteps on the same floor and upstairs. I also hurt myself on the pool table because they put a nail in it to hang the triangle.

I was the only guest for five days, which made the place feel pretty strange. The rooms were spotless and the pool was great, but it’s isolated, near only the water reservoir. Khao Lak is an eight minute taxi ride away. Staff couldn't speak English, which wasn't a big deal, but they couldn't arrange a taxi without calling someone for instructions. The friendly door staff were often on the treadmill when they greeted you. Clean, great pool, empty.

The staff are really friendly, and there’s a small pool at the hotel. You can reach the beach in a 20 minute walk, and the location works fine if you have a scooter. My room faced the main road and was very, very loud, with no soundproofing. The air conditioner was noisy and should be checked, and the bed made noise whenever I turned over while sleeping.

We only stayed one night, but came away with a wonderful impression. The staff were so friendly and even surprised us with roses for Valentine's Day. Our room was spacious and clean, with a pretty comfortable mattress. The windows faced the main road, though the noise didn't bother us at night. The pool is tucked into a cosy spot under the trees.
