Bananas Bungalows

The restaurant is a relaxed, friendly spot where it’s easy to wind down and meet other guests. There are plenty of activities and good food options nearby, too. For a unique horseback riding experience, try Crazy Horse across the way. The sunsets were some of the most beautiful and peaceful I’ve ever seen. I had an unforgettable week here, and I’m grateful to Praw, Andrej, and the wonderful community for the memories.

The staff are always around and so helpful. They’re happy to offer advice and arrange trips, entertainment, including Saturday night karaoke, and taxis. The facilities are basic, but there’s everything you need, and for a small fee they’ll do your laundry. I stayed for a comfortable week in one of the double bungalows with AC. It’s such a unique little gem, and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to fall in love with Bananas. The restaurant serves a variety of tasty food, freshly cooked on site, and is open until 5pm. I’ll definitely come back.

6 travellers from New Zealand, 21-24/12/25 We loved the social atmosphere and how friendly the staff were. They even came out for karaoke! There are lots of things to join in with, from karaoke and bar nights to full-day island boat tours arranged by the staff. We went on the tour and it was fantastic. The location is peaceful and away from the really crowded areas, with a couple of places down the road serving great, cheap Thai food. The food on site is nice and reasonably priced, too. The common areas are incredible: big tables to eat and chat at, hammocks under a little covered spot, a raised roofed area, and a long pier through the mangroves leading to a jetty with more seats. It’s perfect for watching the sunset or going for a swim. Our dorm was clean, with comfy beds and plenty of power sockets, though unfortunately there was no AC. The showers and bathrooms were good. This was my favourite hostel of the trip. Just be careful with your belongings, the monkeys will steal them if you let them.

I hadn’t stayed in a hostel for over 30 years, so when a friend booked Bananas, I was more than a little worried. Turns out I had it completely wrong. Ollie and Andra welcomed us on day one, and they’re really nice guys. Ollie’s laugh 😂 was great. Breanna and Claudia were super helpful as well. The place was perfect for relaxing and enjoying some peace, whether stretched out in the hammocks or chilling at the bar. One of the highlights of our trip. Thanks, Bananas team, you guys were ace! 🙏😎
