I liked the large, clean room, with its own bathroom, balcony, and plenty of furnishings. The owner speaks good English, takes care of guests, and offered two trips at very fair prices. The guesthouse doesn’t have a restaurant or serve breakfast, but there’s a small place just opposite where I had good noodle soup. It’s about a seven-minute walk to both the Mekong and the lively market. One thing I didn’t like was that the owner wouldn’t accompany me when I asked. Thais aren’t keen on walking, but sometimes I would appreciate their help. The rock paintings disappointed me and weren’t worth seeing, if you can see them at all. The two-colours river is now just one colour, though walking along the promenade is still very pleasant.
