Q Resort Rayong

The hotel has direct beach access and real potential, but staying there felt like being in a deserted, run-down building. The rooms are tatty, the buffet breakfast wasn’t kept warm, and the shower temperature controls were erratic. Don’t be fooled by the Centara name. The whole place needs a full renovation.

The staff were very helpful and did their best, but the property needs a full renovation. In our deluxe room, the hot tub didn’t work. We were moved to another room with hot water, but the water pressure was insufficient. The rooms and building quality didn’t justify the price. Centara Q may have been a 4-star hotel in the past, but it’s now very worn and needs a lot of work to maintain that rating. Calling it a 4-star hotel feels like false advertising, and it may be better to rate it 2 or 3 stars so others can avoid a similar stay. I don’t usually fuss over things like this, but I thought it was worth sharing.

The one bright spot was the kids’ corner, which seemed to be open from 11:00 until late at night, along with the staff’s great hospitality. The rest was a nightmare. We’d stayed here more than 10 years ago and liked it, so we returned with two young kids expecting the same facilities and cleanliness. The room was worn out and poorly maintained, the balcony floor was crooked, and there was a cockroach at the drink bar. Breakfast was horrible, with little choice and not enough food or kitchenware. The towels arrived late and smelled terrible. The old swimming pool had broken tiles and an unstable ladder, and cigarette smoke from the beach filled the area. This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at for this price. I wondered if people paid a lot for this kind of service. Never again!

One of the three rooms we booked smelled of old wood, even after housekeeping sprayed something. Aside from that, our four-night stay was superb.
