Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa

The main reason I chose this hotel was to enjoy an ocean view, so I booked a Premier Panoramic Ocean View room two weeks ahead. At check-in, reception said they had “upgraded” me to a Studio. The room I was given was on the 3rd floor and looked out at mountains and residential houses, not the sea. Calling that an upgrade felt misleading, since it was a downgrade from the room I had booked and paid for. I contacted reception as soon as I saw the room and asked for the reserved room type. They said all Premier Panoramic Ocean View rooms were fully booked. I don’t find that explanation acceptable when a guest has reserved a specific room in advance. It strongly suggests the room I booked may have been reassigned before I arrived. I raised the matter with staff and the manager. All I got was an apology and a vague promise of an upgrade “next time,” which doesn’t solve it. I’m not asking for compensation, a discount, or a future upgrade. I want honesty and accountability, and an acknowledgement of whether my room was intentionally given to another guest without my consent. The hotel should clarify who got the room I booked and who authorized changing my reservation without telling me. I expected professionalism and integrity, but experienced poor reservation management and a misleading explanation presented as an “upgrade.” I went to the seaside for the ocean view and ended up facing mountains and homes instead. This seriously undermines the trust guests place in the hotel’s booking.

We had a pleasant first visit to Rayong. The rooms felt luxurious and were comfortable enough, and the price was good value. We especially enjoyed the two very spacious pools. The staff were so friendly, and Ms. Yada, the tall lady at reception, was particularly helpful and made things easier for us. A few things could be better. We wished the bar had stayed open later during the New Year’s period, and there could have been more chairs by the pool. Facebook Messenger replies were very slow, which was our biggest concern. The New Year's Eve Party was affordable compared with Phuket, and the food was decent, but the entertainment was boring. We left halfway through to go to a bar outside the hotel. Hopefully there’ll be more engaging entertainment in future.

Breakfast was a real highlight. I chose it over points, and the buffet had a great range of Asian and Western food. Noy remembered that I wanted a larger cup and brought one every morning without being asked. Tokyo was also exceptional: when I ordered spicy Tom Yum soup, she brought water and juice, anticipated what I needed, and checked on me with a cheerful smile. From arrival to checkout, everyone was warm and attentive. Sam at the front desk helped arrange a scooter. I got complimentary drinks each night, an upgrade to a lovely one-bedroom ocean view suite, and late checkout with my Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status. I liked the suite so much that I extended my stay and kept it without paying an upgrade. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and grounds well kept. The service was top tier, and I’ll absolutely return. Highly recommend Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa.

We came back for a two-night stop between Bangkok and Koh Chang, this time in rooms 11.05 and 11.04, with two adults and four children. We still think this is an excellent hotel, probably the best in all of Rayong, and would happily return. The pool is kept clean constantly and there are plenty of loungers. Everyone, from reception onward, was very friendly and service-minded. Breakfast has a huge selection of delicious food. The other meals are outstanding too, at the prices you’d expect from a five-star hotel.
