The Chill Resort & Spa Koh Chang

The service from the woman in the blue T-shirt at the front desk was extremely poor, and we left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. After a week at The Stage, I can honestly say this was one of my worst stays. Music from the property next door, combined with our room’s location, meant I didn’t get a single good night’s sleep. When I told reception and asked to move away from the music blasting until 2am, she seemed completely uninterested and immediately said, “no refunds,” though I hadn’t asked to leave. Our triple room was clean but very basic and short on essentials: just two electrical plugs in the whole room, one bathroom hook for towels, no hand soap except in the shower, and no bins. When I asked that same receptionist for a bin or bag, she said I couldn’t have one, even though there were three of us and we’d obviously have rubbish. There was also a leak from the bathroom ceiling, leaving the toilet seat, floor, and room wet. The receptionist didn’t seem bothered when I reported it, and nothing was done. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The location is hard to beat, right in the middle of Kai Bae’s commercial area with eateries and amenities close at hand. Reception was attentive when I had questions. I enjoyed my stay at The Stage, where the room and toilet were both large and clean.

The pools were nice, the location was really practical, and the staff were genuinely kind and helpful. I stayed for a few nights with friends, four of them in double rooms and three of us, including me, in a room for three. I was disappointed with that room. For three people, it only had two plugs in total, and none beside the beds, so charging devices was awkward. There were no bedside lights or bathroom plug either. The bathroom had just one hook for towels or clothes, and soap was only in the shower, not by the sink. The closet had only four hangers for three people.

The rooms were comfortable, and the AC was amazing. Breakfast was basic but had plenty of options, and we had access to four pools. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond for us. Amazing place to stay, and I’m definitely coming back.
