Our stay itself was nice. The location was good and the hotel staff were sweet and kind. But things went badly with the owner’s customer service. Before we arrived, I booked a few nights with the wrong dates, from 9.1-13.1 instead of 10.1-14.1. I noticed straight away and asked the owner if we could add a night and cancel the first one. She said the room was available, but we’d still have to pay for the night we wouldn’t use. That was fair enough since it was my mistake, though I felt she could have been more helpful and warmer in her reply. On the first day, the toilet broke when my friend sat on it. We told the staff, and it wasn’t our fault. That night, my friend got her period and stained the sheets a little. It can happen, and our only mistake was not telling the staff because we thought room service would take care of it. Both things happened on the first night. Nobody raised either issue with us, the toilet was fixed and the sheets were replaced, so we thought that was the end of it. We stayed three more nights without hearing anything. On our last evening, the receptionist, who was very sweet and wasn’t at fault, told us the owner wanted 500 baht for the sheets and toilet. We were ready to pay the next day. She showed us a photo of the sheets on WhatsApp. But the next morning, when we were leaving, the amount had suddenly gone up to 3700 baht just for the sheets, over 100 dollars, even though there was only a small amount of period blood. They initially wanted us to pay for the toilet too, which we refused because it wasn’t our fault. I think more than 100 dollars for stained sheets is far too much. You could probably buy a whole bed for less in Thailand. We asked to speak to the owner by phone. She said very little, and when the receptionist took the phone back, she said the owner would call the police if we didn’t pay. We only wanted to talk again and understand why the charge was so high. The receptionist said the owner was on the toilet and couldn’t talk. Ten minutes later, we asked again and got the same answer, along with another threat to call the police. In the end we paid. I messaged the owner through Booking, and she replied that if I wanted to write a bad review, I had to “tell everyone what we did.” So this is me telling you. It’s a shame because the hotel is cute, well located and has good staff. The only bad part was the owner’s customer service.
