The beach is amazing, and the pool and bar area are great. Food, drinks, and breakfast were all good. You can walk to bars and restaurants at other hotels along this beach, but without a scooter there’s nothing else within walking distance. A five-minute taxi to the corner restaurant cost 600 baht. The rooms are a little older, as you’d expect in a wooden villa, and with the outdoor bathroom you need a bug net.

The hotel has a jungle theme, which usually isn’t my thing, but it worked for me. The rooms were okay and I have no complaints. The views are great, the sea looks transparent, and the beach water is clean. Hotel staff work painstakingly to keep the beach clean. Food and drinks were the place’s strong point for me: the food tasted awesome and was reasonably priced, and the drinks looked great and tasted good. I recommend trying the delicious fruit pancakes. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the WiFi ran at 20-50mbps on a remote island. A memorable stay.

The food was so fresh, especially the spring rolls and Thai green curry, and every cocktail I tried was lovely. We came for my birthday and got room A5, which I thought had the best view. We’d booked a sea view and it really delivered. The staff were great, especially at the bar. Dusita Resort sits on one side of Bang Bao Bay. We kayaked over to the other side, where the beach was gorgeous too. The water was clear and so warm. Honestly, a dream.

The setting is lovely, and having their own beach is nice, though it has no sand. The staff are kind, but quite a few seem to need prompting to take initiative. There’s a lot of upkeep to catch up on, and things feel rusty and dated despite the resort’s authentic feel. Breakfast covers the basics but is only mediocre. When they ran out of fruit, for example, the waitresses stayed on their phones until someone asked them to bring more. Prices felt high too, like 160 baht for a fruit shake. They played Western pop music far too loudly at the bar. We paid about 115€/night in January, which didn’t feel worth it. 60-70€/night would seem fair.
