Aloha Lanta

The family running the hotel were kind and welcoming, and we felt at home the whole time. The rooms were clean, the owners friendly, and the location was great. We could rent a scooter on site, get laundry done, and ask the family anything. They gave us useful island and excursion tips and helped arrange our transport back. If we return to Koh Lanta, we already know where we'll stay.

What made Aloha Lanta stand out for me was the staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive without hovering, and they made me feel like a valued guest. The manager noticed my dive bags when I checked in and asked if I was there to scuba dive. After that he'd ask how it went and which sites I'd visited. On my first morning, he saw me heading to the dive shop and came out with a beach towel in case I needed one. A few days later, he stopped his motorcycle on the way home after a long shift to offer me a ride to the grocery store. I didn't need one, but that kind of thoughtfulness is rare. The housekeeper was just as warm: each morning she greeted me, remembered my room and asked if I wanted it cleaned or needed anything. The location is excellent for my regular scuba trips to Koh Lanta. It's close to the pier, dive shops, restaurants, the night market, a grocery store, a 7-11, pharmacies, a clinic, and plenty of other conveniences. I like being able to walk five minutes to Hidden Depths Diving, they're awesome. The rooms are large, very clean, comfortable, and better than most nearby hotels I've tried, though the area generally has dated, basic rooms at all price points. The beds were comfortable, the Wi-Fi reliable, and the air conditioning worked well. The balcony is spacious, with two surprisingly comfortable plastic chairs, a small table, and hooks for drying swimwear. The room itself is basic and a bit dated, and there's only one electrical outlet. I bought a power strip at the grocery store for under 200 baht, though the front desk might have lent me one. Aloha Lanta isn't the fanciest hotel in Koh Lanta, but it feels special because the staff care so much and do their best to make your stay good. Having tried several places in Sala Dan, I've found my favorite and already look forward to coming back. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The hospitality really set Aloha Lanta apart. Peter and his parents, who run the hotel as a Thai family, took great care of me. Peter arranged my activities and helped me get discounts, and I'd recommend booking tours through him. Laundry was available, cleaning was done daily, and no request felt like a problem. When I got sick, they went out of their way to look after me. That kindness stayed with me. I stayed in two rooms, first with a town-facing balcony and later in an upgraded sea-view room. Both were excellent, clean, spacious, and comfortable, with practical bathrooms. The beds were firm in the typical Thai style, but I found them comfortable, especially with the great pillows. The sea view was beautiful. Some furniture and shared spaces looked a little worn, but it didn't affect my stay. The family clearly puts cleanliness, comfort, and heartfelt service first, and the place has character. The hotel is right across from the beach in Saladan, close enough to walk to restaurants, walking street, shops, and the ferry terminal. Even with everything nearby, it was surprisingly peaceful at the end of a small dead-end street. I arrived late, close to 11 pm, despite reception usually closing at 9. Peter waited for me, welcomed me with a beer, and offered food and snacks after my long travel day. It made a lasting impression. I'd absolutely stay here again.

Peter was the highlight of my week at Aloha Lanta in February 2026. He offered useful ideas for places to explore each day and helped sort out my shuttle and motorbike rental. He was friendly and helpful throughout, and clearly wanted guests to have a good time on Ko Lanta. The location is excellent, right beside the beach with only a short strip of lawn between. Saladan Pier is easy to reach, as are shops, restaurants, and the lively Saladan Walking Street night market for food and shopping. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Ko Lanta.
