We got the bungalow shown in the listing. It’s roomy, quite big, and looks beautiful, tucked deep in nature. You’re away from car noise, with birds, insects, wind, palm branches tapping the roof, and the occasional gecko echoing away. But whether you wake to those sounds depends on how sensitive you are to noise. At 5:30 am, before the roosters start, a fairly loud call to prayer from the nearby mosque might wake you. There was construction noise during the day, though it wasn’t too loud and we could nap. Being surrounded by nature also means bugs and other visitors. Over four nights we saw six cockroaches, four dead and two half-alive, so it seems like some poisoning measures are in place. The bigger problem was the mosquitoes that kept appearing in waves of two or three in the bathroom. There’s a mosquito net on the window and we stuffed the entrance door gaps with towels, but they still kept coming. Sacrificing them to the spiders and ants didn’t seem to help. We left physically and mentally scarred by the massacre, and now a clap makes us think of it. They only appeared in the living room twice, compared with more than 30 in the bathroom, so whatever was going on seemed limited to that area. If mosquito bites affect you badly, this place may not suit you unless you’re ready to kill them preemptively.

It’s a nice, fairly modern place surrounded by jungle. The main drawback is how far it is from things. The beach is probably a 10-20-minute walk, and a proper grocery store is too far to reach on foot. There’s a scooter for rent right there, though, so getting around is no problem if you have one. Just keep the distances in mind.

The villa bungalows are nice for the price, and the natural surroundings make for a very chill stay. Bring bug spray. Coffee, the owner’s dog, is a sweet, smart girl who likes walks and snacks.

This can be a decent value if you get a good price, and the family running it seem nice, but it’s a very basic stay. They don’t provide drinking water at all, and there’s nothing nearby if you can’t drive. The husband and wife seem to do all the work themselves, and they don’t speak much English, so communication can be slow if you don’t speak Thai. The bungalow is out in the jungle, not on the beach, and the place is run down. The rooms smell musty and have lots of bugs. The listed address is actually for Dream Team Resort down the road on the beach, which I think is owned by the same family. The road is in very poor condition, and parking is through a muddy patch that gets worse in the rain. It can be difficult to drive through if you’re inexperienced. It’s in the middle of nowhere on Lanta, so it may suit you if you want to get away from everything and aren’t looking for much.

Our Airbnb stay was really unpleasant. We waited 30-40 minutes for the host to show us to the villa, and the host’s behavior was inexcusable. The location was completely different from what the listing advertised, and the page left out important information. There was no water, so the place wasn’t fit to live in. A regrettable experience, and I strongly advise against booking here.
