The travelers here felt like a second family, and I found that mix of people from different backgrounds hard to come by elsewhere. If I return to Lanta, Bubu Lanta is where I’ll stay. It’s been the best value hostel I’ve tried so far. The dorms are simple but comfortable, with a plug at every bed, and people respect each other’s quiet in the mornings and at night. The bathrooms and toilets are a real selling point: freshly repainted, in great shape, very clean, and with hot water!

The beach is just a five-minute walk, and there are lots of good restaurants nearby. I felt welcome the whole time. The hostel was clean and had everything I needed, and the owners were incredibly kind and friendly. They helped me with everything. I absolutely loved my stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Brandon and his girlfriend are such a welcoming, lovely couple, and the hostel is affordable and clean. They’ve only recently started, so not many people know about it yet, but it’s one of the best hostels I stayed at during my four months in Thailand. Five stars. I’ll definitely return if I’m back on the island.

Koh Lanta is amazing, really laid back, and great for diving. The rooms here are clean, inexpensive, and air conditioned. Chris and Nam are warm and helpful, happy to sort out what you need and share stories over a beer. I had a great time and will come back!

The beach is about 400 m away, with white sand and blue water, though watch out for waves sometimes. This is a lovely, clean retreat and good value, with chickens and cats adding a bit of character. It’s easy to have good conversations with other travelers, and Chris is personable and often around. The host couple are nice, he’s Swiss, and there are good drinks at the in-house bar. You can order delicious, inexpensive food from “localfood-mama” next door and eat it at chris's table/bar. French, English, German, and Thai are spoken.
