Echo Samadhi

I stayed at Echo Samadhi for five weeks and had a lovely time. It’s a quiet part of the island, so I slept really well, and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. The spacious rooms are nicely done and have lovely balconies, with a fan as a bonus. Breakfast is included, delicious, cooked to order, and has plenty of choices. In the evenings there’s a hot tub where you can watch the stars, and the night views are pretty incredible. Andy, Kimi, O and all the staff were welcoming and so helpful. Nothing felt like too much to ask, whether I needed advice on island activities or onward travel, or help renting a scooter. There are a few sweet cats wandering around, and Momo is such a playful little character 🐕. It was a pleasure staying here, and I’d definitely come back!

Kimi was one of the friendliest and most helpful hosts we’ve met. She shared lots of recommendations, arranged a moped for us when we arrived, and even drove us to the nearest ATM in her own car when we didn’t have enough cash. We booked this as one of the only places left on the island and weren’t sure what to expect, but we were blown away. The peaceful gardens were lovely, and our room was spotless and well equipped. She went above and beyond to make the stay easy. Couldn’t have been better!

It’s tucked away in a quiet little jungle neighborhood, but still close to everything. Klong nin beach and shops are about four minutes away by scooter. The rooms are clean and good quality, with comfortable touches like nice pillows and a hot shower, and the nature around the place is beautiful. The garden cafe is lovely, and the food is delicious. I especially liked the larb chicken fries, probably my favorite larb on the island. The massaman curry fries with crispy chicken were incredible too, and the fusion fries are great. The bartender can make lots of different cocktails.

The location is about a mile from the beach, so having a rental scooter or car is a good idea. Still, the shade and calm turned out to be a welcome part of our stay, and there are excellent restaurants a short walk away, especially BaanPhong Lanta, where we happily ate often. We were lucky to find a room for our small family at the newly renovated Echo Samadhi. It was spacious, clean and tastefully redesigned, with lovely lighting and excellent AC. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast and bar area was pleasant. Guests also seemed to treat each other with polite mutual respect.
