Sunanta Bungalow

The road noise was so bad that we slept poorly, and I wouldn’t stay here again for that reason. These bungalows are beside Koh Lanta’s busiest road, basically a four-lane motorway, with very loud aftermarket, unsilenced motorbikes. Bring the best earplugs money can buy. There’s no free water, so you have to buy your own, though there’s a 7-11 about ten minutes away. The bed is very comfortable, the hut is nice, the place is very clean and staff are friendly. The beach is close, but it isn’t very nice, and swimming isn’t possible because sharp stakes from a seaweed farm are left in the water.

I liked this bungalow a lot. The people were really nice, looked out for me and made it feel like home. It was clean and had everything I needed nearby. A tip: if you’re coming in the hottest season, book one with AC. Mine only had a fan, and even with another fan they gave me, it was still so hot that I had to sleep somewhere else. Next time I’ll book one with AC, and it should be a perfect stay.

The room was roomy for one person, and I really liked the balcony and the bungalow’s surroundings. The staff were very friendly too. My main problem was that the bathroom wasn’t fully sealed, with gaps between the plates, so mosquitoes kept getting in and I was eaten alive. Maybe they could fit screens there. The water pressure was very low, though that seems fairly normal on the island. Still, I was very satisfied with the stay.

I booked a bungalow that was supposed to have its own AC unit, as stated in my reservation screenshot, but they put me in one with only a fan and said no other bungalows were available. The bigger issue was the roosters kept on the property. They started crowing at 4:15 a.m. With holes all over the bungalow and no glass in the windows, just mosquito nets, it felt like a rooster was crowing beside my bed. We got through the first hot, noisy night, then found somewhere else to stay for the next three nights. If you want to sleep later than 4:15 a.m. on vacation, I recommend booking elsewhere.
