Phi Phi Garden View Resort

The staff were kind, helped carry our backpacks to the room, and let us check in early. The room itself was very nice and had a good view, if you set aside the problems. The pool was great too. A lot in the room wasn’t working, including the lights and the toilet flush. We asked them to fix the toilet around 13:00 and again around 16:00, but someone only came knocking at 22:00, when we were nearly asleep. The place didn’t show up on Google Maps, and reception had no hanging sign to help locate it.

The place is far from the rest of the island, with 142 steps up and away from other people and activity. The room smelled strange and was mouldy, with lots of ants and mosquitoes. The bed was uncomfortable, though fairly clean. Wifi didn’t work, and some people couldn’t even connect. The bathroom door locked, and staff refused to help, leaving me unable to use the toilet or shower or get to the things I’d left inside. I heard people complaining about the hotel as I climbed the seemingly endless steps. Don’t stay here!

The free breakfast was brilliant: eggs scrambled or sunny-side up, veggie fried rice, croissants, Nutella, fruit, cereal, pancakes, juices and more. I was surprised by the pancakes. They were small, thick and extremely soft, filled with banana and berries, among the best I’ve had. Rooms are huge, clean and new, with balconies and excellent views. They come with AC, hot running water, a kettle, locker, mini fridge and other items. One thing to know is they’re 7-8 minutes from reception and up a height, with lots of steep stairs. Ask for a lower tier room if you prefer. Staff were super helpful carrying our bags between the pier and hotel, and from the hotel to our room.

The room was clean and alright, but the balcony view wasn’t what I expected from somewhere called « top view ». That was my main disappointment. The staff were amazing, though, and I’d recommend the hotel. I arrived feeling unwell after food poisoning at a restaurant in Krabi and passed out in the lobby. Some strangers and staff looked after me and took me to my room. The next day the staff checked on me and even offered to bring breakfast to bed. Good staff and a great hotel.
