There were a few friendly people, but most islanders struck me as lousy. The stay is close to the community, so it can be noisy, especially with engines starting up on and off through the night. From my own experience, the island is better for a day trip, particularly for Thai locals going straight to worship at the island's main shrine. The community seems to practice gaslighting...

Good service, good prices, and tasty food. I ordered stir-fried squid with basil and asked for just a little spice. It still brought tears to my eyes, but tasted quite nice.
