Amara Beach Resort

The calm atmosphere and beautiful beach made Amara Beach Resort feel like a good fit for a family trip. We stayed nearly three weeks with our three little boys, and the resort felt safe, convenient, and suited to both short and longer visits. The staff were helpful and professional throughout. Michaela, the manager, deserves a special mention for being attentive and available, and for running the resort so professionally. The bar team were friendly, efficient, and pleasant to deal with too. We had a very good experience, would recommend the place, and would consider staying again.

We were at this hotel from the 19th to the 22nd, hoping for a proper rest on our favorite Haad Yao beach, but the hotel issues ruined our vacation. At check-in, reception told us there had been a mistake and that the room we booked was occupied. They put us in another room for two days, saying it was an upgrade and promising to move us later. We thought, “These things happen,” but it wasn’t an upgrade. Our original room was actually a little better. The first room had serious problems. The shower plug came out right away and the water stopped working. It wasn’t fixed until the next day, so we had to change all our plans while waiting just to take a basic shower. The toilet wouldn’t flush either, which was mortifying for my husband and me. The plumbing is in terrible shape and the hotel urgently needs renovation. The room was very old, with no bedside tables or outlets by the bed, and was uncomfortable and unappealing to stay in. On the third day, my husband and I wanted to go on an excursion, but we had to wait until 12:00 to move to our original room. That room was much better, with a balcony, lounger, proper furniture, bedside tables, lamps, and more. It’s disappointing because this was the most expensive hotel on Koh Phangan, and we had high hopes. We’ve stayed in far better places for that price. The hotel staff reply on WhatsApp without much enthusiasm...

After checking out and leaving, we realized we’d left a gold ring on the bathroom sink. We contacted reception, and they later let us know the cleaning staff had found it. We’d already travelled from Koh Phangan to Ao Nang, but reception arranged to send the ring to our hotel there at no cost. The reception staff were incredibly helpful and service-minded about the ring, and throughout our stay. We stayed at Amara Beach Resort from January 30th to February 4th and had a very nice time. We’d recommend Haad Yao and Amara Beach Resort to anyone wanting a holiday on Koh Phangan.

Bam made my stay especially nice. He was so kind and helpful, always smiling, and went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed. I spent a few wonderful weeks at this beautiful, peaceful, well-maintained hotel. The rooms were always clean and comfortable, and it felt warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Koh Phangan.
