Ban Tai Resort

The place has a relaxed feel, and I liked the hammock on the porch. The beds were comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful. But the place is a little run down. Our first room had faulty AC and a shower with no hot water and barely any pressure. We asked to move, and the new room had better AC, but the shower was still bad and had ants. The door wouldn’t close all the way, and the lock didn’t seem to do much. There was no room safe, only lockers at reception, which was inconvenient. Not an awful stay, but I won’t return.

Be careful before booking. This hotel could spoil your whole vacation. We booked well in advance to get availability and a better price, but later they cancelled, giving some random excuse after demand for those dates had gone up. It seemed clearly aimed at getting higher prices. This feels like a pure scam, and I think that may be why they only accept cash.

The resort seemed peaceful and very nice, and there are a few good Thai restaurants nearby. The rooms, staff, and facilities, though, are all very basic.

The other bungalows looked nice, so maybe you can have a normal stay if they don’t overlook your reservation. Our room’s AC smelled like urine, and both the room and bathroom were dirty and horrible-smelling. Someone had emptied a whole can of cheap air freshener to cover it, but then you could taste it in your mouth. We used our own towel as a blanket. My friend said bugs were crawling on him, so I guess that was a smart choice.
