Sunset Hill Resort apart-hotel

We stayed for two months, and the whole team made us feel at home from the start. Rein, the manager, was especially warm and caring. Everyone from reception to housekeeping was kind, professional, and attentive. The hotel is beautiful and extremely clean. It was a wonderful stay in Koh Phangan, and I'm already looking forward to coming back. Thanks to Rein and all the staff for making it so memorable.

Mitzi, the reservations manager, was fantastic. I left early, and she put in a lot of effort with the third-party booking agency to get the remaining two nights refunded. She didn't have to do that, and I really appreciated her help and flexibility. The grounds are beautiful, the pool and views are amazing, and the bed was comfortable. But Sunset Hill sits on a very steep hill, so walking to town or the beaches isn't realistic. You need a car or scooter. For nearly $170 USD a night, my room felt basic and dated, and the shower had no hot water. There was mold in the bathroom and in the reusable water bottles provided, which was unacceptable. Geckos on my balcony and other outdoor creatures made nights noisy, so I used earplugs. I also found the restaurant and bar food and drinks overpriced and not good. I wouldn't stay again, though the pool and views are incredible. I heard they often hold events like music, dance, fire shows, and yoga classes, and I'd definitely attend those. A zouk dance was happening the night I arrived, and it was really cool.

The staff made this stay for us. Everyone we met was warm, positive, and genuinely helpful. We were there during a local holiday when an issue came up with our room, and they immediately offered to move us rather than make us wait until the holiday was over. The service was so good that we extended our stay. We tried two rooms. The one at the back was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The other was on a completely different level, with a large, beautifully kept interior and a stunning view. The hotel is on a hill, but its free daytime shuttle to nearby places such as the beach and 7-Eleven made getting around easy and gave us a peaceful, scenic spot that was still accessible. It's a quiet place rather than a party hotel. We had a great time and would come back.

Getting around takes some effort here, since the hotel is on a hill and good legs or a scooter help. In return, the views from the rooms, pool, and restaurant are stunning. I got to try an ice bath, then hear the owner share stories by the fire pit. The staff also invited me to join the Songkran celebrations in the city and a blessing ceremony with monks the next day. I felt lucky to be included. Everyone was so kind, and Rein is a fantastic manager. Thanks to the whole team for a memorable stay :)
