Am Samui Palace

So far, so good on our first of two nights in Lumai. The check-in was a pleasant surprise, and the front desk staff walked us to our large room, which includes breakfast, and gave us a quick introduction to the location. It’s laid out quite spaciously for an in-town stay, and the room is well appointed. We heard some street bar noise in the evening, though I think most places close before it gets too late.

The location is very central, with the beach a short walk away, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you want to sleep. From our deluxe corner room, loud bar and disco music carried on until 4 a.m. We could hear the neighbors working out which switch controlled which light too, the walls are paper thin 😆. Breakfast was okay, though there were lots of flies around the fruit. The cleaning staff were nice, but their walkie-talkie could be heard from 7:30 a.m. I can’t say whether other rooms are any quieter.

The staff were so friendly, always smiling and ready to help, and I had an amazing time. The rooms and beds are huge, breakfast is very good, and there’s a nice gym with everything needed for a good workout. You’re right in the center of Lamai, just 20 seconds from the beach, bars, restaurants, markets, and cafes. I’ll be back.

We didn’t use the pool and instead went to the beach, which is a five-minute walk away. I liked the hotel’s location within Lamai Beach. We visited in low season, so it was super quiet and relaxed, and the rooms were clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The grounds looked well maintained, though the hotel itself isn’t as modern as some others in the area.
