Baan Khun Nang Colonial Residence

A spacious house for a good price, in a very handy location.

We had a family reunion here. The house is big and worked great for us.

We stayed for three weeks, and whenever we asked, cleaning and fresh towels were provided. There were plenty of towels for both the bathroom and beach. The owners and on-site staff were easy to contact, very friendly, and helpful. The location is convenient too: three minutes to the food market, restaurants, and massage places, and eight minutes to the beach. A large garden gives you some privacy, even with two other villas on the property. There's also a clean pool and a laundry room with modern washers and dryers. Inside, the villa has a traditional colonial look, with dark rustic wood and lots of character. The rooms are spacious, with lovely old-style wooden wardrobes and beds, but the mattresses are modern and very comfortable. The kitchen is modern and has a large fridge and freezer. Every room has modern air conditioning and fly screens. The bathroom arrangement is a little unusual, with one by the kitchen, one upstairs, and one beside the upstairs outdoor balcony, but it works. We had nothing that bothered us. Just know it's not the place for anyone expecting an ultra-modern five-star concrete design, or who can't live with creaky wooden floors and doors, simple windows, no shower curtains, or nighttime animal sounds like frogs. Those quirks add charm for us, and we'd happily come back.

The pool is shared by everyone on the property, so it isn't private. This old villa has its own charm and seems well suited to four couples. I wouldn't recommend it for a family with a baby, since the needed facilities aren't available.
