The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and a very friendly family runs the place. The location is great, within walking distance of the beach and town centre. Overlap stones are a short taxi or bike ride away. The only real downside was the shower had no hot water. The family tried to fix it and gave us a discount on our stay.

The family running the place were polite and clearly doing their best, and I respect that this is also their home. Still, several things need updating. I changed rooms three times: the first had too many ants, and the second had broken air conditioning. When I left it on, they kept coming in while I was out and switching it off. Don’t expect VIP or luxury treatment, and I can’t rate it above three stars with those issues.

We were shocked when we arrived and left instead of staying the four nights we’d booked. It was dirty, worn out, and there was rubbish everywhere around the family-run place. This was the worst experience we’ve had in all our years of travelling, and we had to find somewhere else at the last minute. I’m being honest so others can avoid the same experience. Check the listing carefully too: the name is similar to baan lamai beach resort, which has a pool. This place doesn’t.

The room was very basic, though the location is great. I arrived at 2:15 pm, fifteen minutes after the stated check-in time, but still waited almost two hours for my room.
