Chaweng Budget Hotel

We stayed here and everything worked fine. Across the road is Chaweng Cove Resort, where we could use the gym and pool and have their great breakfast buffet on the beach terrace. It gave us the lovely resort experience at Chaweng Cove, where we’ve also stayed sometimes at a higher price.

This was our favourite place to stay on our Thailand holiday. The room was spacious, very clean, and had powerful air conditioning. Unlike other places we stayed, our room was cleaned every day, and the staff were really friendly. The neighbouring resort’s pool was a clean, cool two-minute walk away. The bar and restaurant are a little expensive, but there are plenty of nearby spots if you’re eating on a budget. Happy hour made cocktails fairly cheap, around 165 baht for two.

The room was nice and very quiet, with good air conditioning, and the staff were friendly. The first cleaning was perfect, but the day-to-day cleaning wasn’t as good. Reception wasn’t always staffed either, so we had to call the other hotel and ask someone to come over. The pool is at the hotel across the street. It was always crowded, as it’s small for so many rooms, though it’s only a few steps from the pool to the beach. The beach was nice but not good for swimming, with a red flag almost every day. The stretch opposite the hotel was clean, but not the whole beach. There were lots of salespeople and not many places to buy food or drinks unless you went to a hotel. The main street is easy to reach. Even with those issues, I thought the room and service were very good for the price.

The rooms are noisy, there’s no elevator, and the shower was an absolute nightmare. For a budget hotel, I still couldn’t have imagined water pressure this poor or separate hot and cold shower heads. See photo. Two stars because you can use the facilities at their more luxurious hotel.
