D.Samui Hostel

The resort is at the quieter end of Chaweng Beach. I didn't mind that, though anyone wanting to be closer to the action might want to think twice. We stayed in an Ocean Pool Villa, which was bright, clean, roomy, and comfortable. It was lovely to relax by the private pool with the beach right there, and getting onto the beach was easy. Most of the staff were friendly and pleasant, and took care of anything we asked without fuss. The breakfast buffet wasn't the best I've had, but it was still very good and offered a pretty good range.

Boom, the hotel customer service rep, was an absolute gem. She went out of her way to help us, always smiling and upbeat. Her positivity rubbed off on us, and she and her colleagues made the stay even better. The resort's beachfront access was a big plus, and it was a great base for the city and the surrounding area. We rented scooters and toured the city without any problems. Our room was a good size, had a nice view, and was kept clean and refreshed. Service was excellent and met our needs. The pool was great too, and the gym is small but fine for a quick workout. We had a great stay.

There seemed to be very few service staff, though the rooms were okay. The hotel is right on the beach, which is a perfect location. Smoking on balconies is a problem if you don't smoke. Sometimes smoke comes in while you're enjoying the lovely sea views and fresh air, so you have to shut the balcony.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and check-in and checkout were both easy. Mr Chow is a good fella! I stayed for seven nights in early September and the weather was superb. It's a quiet spot, but close to all the good stuff. The island is small enough to get around on a scooter anyway. I'd definitely stay again.
