Fueangfu Villa

I stayed four nights in a double room and used the laundry service. The room had a fridge, kettle, TV, good AC, towels, soap, and shampoo. There weren't many sockets, though, and one of the main dresser sockets was broken, so I had to unplug the TV. Bring an extension plug if you have one. There's a local supermarket nearby, and taxis or scooters are available to get around. It's 19 minutes from the main town and a comfortable getaway. The rooms are nice and close to the airport. You hear planes from 9am to 10pm, only six or seven a day. I actually loved hearing them take off and land.

We picked it because of the airport and an early flight, and you can walk there. But be ready to wake up next to a jet engine: the rooms have no sound insulation. Communication was difficult because the receptionist didn't speak English. We also had to share a bathroom with another room, which was very inconvenient when the other guests locked the door giving access to it.

The family who own this place made the stay. They helped with everything, from advice and directions for day trips to sorting out any problem, and really made us feel like part of the family. If you want to relax, they'll leave you to it. If you'd rather socialise, they're happy to have you over to their house for evening beers. The owner's wife is a great cook and will make you a lovely meal for very little. I've never had such a warm welcome, and I didn't want to leave. The bungalows are solidly built, beautifully decorated and furnished, with very clean bathrooms finished to a high standard and excellent showers. The owners speak very good English, and the location near the airport is second to none. Yes, it's close to the airport, but flights stop by 10pm at the latest, so there were no noise issues at night. Watching the planes take off was quite exciting. Chaweng is a 5-10 minute walk, and mopeds and cars cost much less to rent here than elsewhere. I won't hesitate to stay again and can't wait to come back. This family really goes the extra mile to make your stay memorable.

It's a noisy place, though not because of planes. There are lots of annoying mechanical sounds in the garden. If you're staying here for an early flight, be careful: I asked the staff the day before to call a taxi to the airport, but they didn't wake up. I had to walk there with oversized baggage and no help.
