The pool was fine and seemed clean. The location worked well too: quiet at night but still close to Lamai's main areas. Still, the stay was a bit disappointing. In Thailand we stayed at places for the same or less money that offered better service and amenities, so you may find better value elsewhere. This was the only place on our trip that didn't provide bottled water each day, and the rooms were cleaned just twice a week. Reception wasn't open 24 hours, and there was no shampoo or soap in the bathroom, which seemed odd since even cheaper places we'd stayed provided them. A man in one of the rooms seemed very drunk or on drugs on several days and made us uncomfortable. He sat outside making loud noises during the day, then went out at night. We saw him trying to talk to a young girl working at the restaurant next door, and a male restaurant staff member had to make him leave her alone. It wasn't necessarily the hotel's fault, but I wouldn't have wanted children staying there with someone like that around.

We booked the double room late, when Samui accommodation was expensive, so I wasn't expecting much from this cheaper option. It exceeded my expectations. It was clean, which mattered most to me, and had a porch and a swimming pool. A lovely quiet spot in town, less than a 10 minute walk from the beach.

Tucked into the heart of Lamai beach, this lovely guest house has a garden between each room. It's a two minute walk from a quiet, clean, paradise-like beach. Good wifi, smiling staff, spacious rooms, and a nice Thai restaurant at reception.

The spacious bungalow had a big bedroom, a large shower room, and a utility room with a sink, fridge, and backdoor. Air con was powerful, and there were fans as well. Cable TV had decent channels, including the World Cup football. The location was good, close to bars, restaurants, and shops but quiet at night. We did notice mosquitoes around reception at night. The lady at reception was really friendly and helpful. She let us check in before noon, although the website said we couldn't. I'd give it five stars if the WiFi had worked in bungalow number 14. It worked very well at reception, where we went when we needed it.
