I was traveling on a budget, and this place made my stay in Koh Samui. It’s the cheapest place there, with an amazing host and an amazing dog, hippo. What more could you ask for?

Monkey Samui is a laid-back, social option in Koh Samui for solo travelers looking for a simple, affordable place. You get a clean bed and a chance to meet other travelers, without paying for luxuries. For the price, I thought it was well worth it. The friendly dog and cat are there to greet you, which makes the place feel welcoming straight away. It’s a budget hostel, so don’t expect five-star comfort. Some people seem to expect too much for such a small fee. If you want an inexpensive stay, this is a great choice! 🏠💙

The best part for me was hippo, the adorable dog who wants to greet everyone. I’d go back just to see this good boy. My room was comfortable and had air-conditioning. It was simple, but did the job, and it was the best value I’ve seen on the island so far. The location suited me perfectly, right on a main songthaew route, which was super useful. The host gave me an extra warm welcome, looked out for me when someone tried to take advantage, and kept safe some things I’d forgotten.

For the price, this is the best value you’ll find on the whole island :) There’s a 7/11 and some good restaurants nearby, plus a sweet host and playful dog. If you stay here, say hi to hippo and meowmeow for me ;)
