Matcha Samui Resort

The pool is on the small side, but it’s very well looked after, and I loved relaxing at the charming beach bar with its view. Breakfast was ample enough, well organized, and served with care. The rooms and shared areas were clean and maintained well, and the staff were friendly and attentive from check-in through to the restaurant, beach bar, and check-out. The Matcha Samui Resort is right on a beautiful sandy beach in Chaweng. Restaurants, shops, and bars are an easy walk away, so it’s central while still feeling peaceful. A comfortable, relaxing place to stay, highly recommended.

The room smelled strongly of sewage, and the elevator wasn’t working, which made the stay unpleasant and inconvenient. There was major renovation work happening, with constant, unbearable noise. Nothing about it had been disclosed when we booked. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have chosen this hotel. The rooms are old and outdated and urgently need renovation. Breakfast was very limited, poor, and lacking variety. With all these serious issues, the hotel still refused to cancel our reservation or give us a refund. We found that highly unprofessional and unacceptable. This stay fell far below acceptable standards and disappointed us at every turn. I strongly advise avoiding a booking until the renovations are finished and the hotel meets basic hospitality standards.

I came here alone, but never felt lonely. Every staff member made me feel valued, from the helpful front desk team to the friendly restaurant staff who gave excellent service. The place is right in the center, convenient for getting around and close to tourist attractions. With clean, comfortable rooms and beautiful white sandy beaches, it’s a perfect spot to relax. This is Thailand’s kindness and genuine hospitality, and I’ll definitely come back.

The renovation noise and sewage smell made this a terrible place to stay. Drilling woke us at 9:30 every morning, and the hotel didn’t seem to consider its guests. It was advertised on Booking as a quiet, peaceful place, the kind of stay guests come for, but no one had told us the hotel was being renovated. The suffering and mental anguish are hard to describe. If you’re doing renovation work, at least be honest and tell guests before they arrive. Booking is just as guilty as the hotel management. Don’t stay somewhere that treats you without respect and acts greedily. Even borrowing an iron came with a note like a mini-contract to sign, saying I had to return it within 30 minutes. They insisted it be brought back by the end of that time. On checkout day, they called at 12:00 to make sure we were leaving. They didn’t give us even five extra minutes and seemed so stressed they were forcing guests out. I’ve stayed in cheaper places with cheaper service, but never had this kind of experience. Everyone involved in a hotel should be kind and considerate. SHAME. GRRED.
