Papillon Resort

We were shown the 2,000 bht room after my friend asked to see the 1,500 bht one. When we went to pay, the owner said it was the wrong room for that price. The French owner was very rude when we said we wouldn't pay that amount and would go elsewhere. She called me strange to my friend. The receptionist kept my ID card and told me to smile more. There was only one receptionist on duty, and she was very slow. As managers ourselves, if our reception staff made a mistake like that, we'd accept losing 500bht as part of good customer service. This was very poor service and business management, especially leaving a receptionist who couldn't handle things alone.

This place felt like a waste of money. It's an old resort with hardly any guests, and the rooms are uncomfortable. The door didn't shut properly, so bugs got inside, and the sheets and towels were worn out. For the same price, you can find much better options.

The pool was one of the better parts of the stay: small, clean and pleasant, around a 7/10 if you aren't expecting an infinity pool with an ocean view. The view itself is quite good, and you can easily watch what's happening during the day. The food was fine, nothing special, and the staff did their jobs without being unfriendly or especially cheerful. The beach can be awkward to walk along. Depending on the tide, you may have to wade or climb over rocks. Chaweng downtown is a long way off, so getting around means long walks or paying for taxis, and the place can feel isolated. The hotel is worn and needs maintenance. Tiles are cracked, doors don't close properly, and the decor feels dated. Wi-Fi was painfully slow and didn't reach our room. Mosquitoes were everywhere, inside and out, so bring repellent. If you're very laid back and don't expect much, the rustic feel might suit you. For working Wi-Fi, rooms without bugs and doors that work properly, I'd look elsewhere.

A good place to recharge. The rooms are spacious and clean, with all the appliances, and the staff are very kind. The pool is clean and there's a jacuzzi on site. We also ate at the restaurant, where the food was very good.
