Phalarn Inn Resort

My dad broke his hand after tripping over a root on the badly lit path, and we spent the next day at the hospital. The lights were aimed at your face and blinded him. There were also wires sticking out of the ground, not garden lamps. Staff and management never apologized. Inside, the roof leaked, rooms were dark and dirty, burnt out bulbs were left unchanged, and the old dirty curtains and lizards made the place feel neglected. The steep, narrow stairs felt dangerous. At night dogs barked and howled, and in the morning the engine workshop next door roared. There was no WiFi. The owner, who manages the place, was rude and disrespectful. She shouted at us when we asked her to sweep the terrace after strong wind had left it dirty. Daily cleaning didn't happen, and more than once we woke up to her yelling at guests, staff, or family. I also saw a young girl in tears after she was refused shampoo, even though she had rented one of the most expensive bungalows and couldn't wash after a long trip. The way customers were treated was awful. They shouted at people and made them cry. This was a horrible experience, and I would never book here.

The bed was comfortable, but the rooms are old and many fixtures and fittings are visibly damaged. The resort is next to the Lomprahya ferry service. The owner came across as loud, obnoxious, and unable to speak to customers properly. She seemed to spend the day shouting at staff or her husband, who was the complete opposite. Her voice was what we heard most of the time.

We ended up staying three nights because we were cycling, it was getting late, and the resort had a lovely pool that Sugar's husband had recently renovated. He's the opposite of Sugar in character. Our room cost 900 baht, with only one working light, a broken toilet bum gun, and no TV. When we tried to negotiate, Sugar gave us a sarcastic, condescending explanation for raising her prices and was rude and arrogant. Later we were accused of breaking the lights and damaging a TV that wasn't even there. Try another resort.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed our time. The cheapest bungalow was basic but good enough for a cheap stay near the pier, while still away from the noisy main street. You can pay more for a better bungalow. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful with everything.
